That season should be less than a year and preferably less than 6 months. And you need to be clear to yourself, your family and your church that it is only for a season and that season will end at said time. The reality of church planting is that there are a lot of things in the early stages that just aren’t going to get done if you don’t do them. But the wise church planter realizes when that phase is over and looks for the opportunity to hand those things off.

This is a key issue in Church Planting. I have been a part of three church plants and so I was aware of some of these issues going into this one. Here are a few things I have tried to do to keep the pace sustainable.

1) I do not leave home before 8:45. I spend a couple of hours with my family every day.

2) I take the first two hours of every day to be with the LORD and I take personal prayer retreats once a quarter

3) I am now taking Mondays off.
